Flying Cheap

This one-hour PBS FRONLTINE documentary investigated the events leading up to the crash of Flight 3407 in New York that killed 50 people.

As co-producer, Catherine reported the story and found and gained the cooperation of several sources including pilots and family members. She helped orchestrate shooting across the country with a production team. She also obtained FAA safety documents and helped to build an interactive database of regional code-share flights.

Congress passed new airline safety laws after the documentary, which the Families of Continental Flight 3407 said was in part due to the awareness raised by the documentary. This won the Society of Professional Journalists Sigma Delta Chi Award for Best Documentary.
